Top 10: Best Golf Courses in Dubai

DUBAI CREEK AND YACHT CLUBHOUSE, DUBAI

Two of the best European Tour events take place at golf courses in Dubai which are comparable to the very best in the world, both by way of challenge in layout and course conditions that top events warrant – the Jumeirah Earth Course and the Emirates Majlis course. But the quality of golf in Dubai doesn’t end there – in fact it just about makes a beginning.

Here’s a look at the top 10 golf courses in Dubai, which is now an established premium golf destination, and getting increasingly popular by the day, even if it costs a few extra bucks.

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club:

One of the torchbearers for the burgeoning golf in Dubai, Dubai Creek Golf Club, as is easy to guess,is set alongside the Dubai Creek. Mint conditions on the course that features exquisite fairways and challenge in the form of immaculate bunker positioning, make golfers want to return here.

Emirates Golf Club – Majlis Course:

Vast sandy wastes, a reflection of the desert landscape, is the overarching theme in the design of this modern-day classic golf course in Dubai, which hosts the Desert Classic each year. But it is not just that which makes this a favorite amongst many tour professionals and amateurs alike. The perilous approaches to the greens, the greens themselves and the imagination by the designer with respect to possible pin positions add up to a thrilling experience, hard to beat.

Being Host to the DP World Tour is by itself a testimony to the course conditions and challenge on offer at one of the best golf courses in Dubai. Play here to experience first-hand what the best players on the European Tour experience each year in the final event of the Race to Dubai.

Trump International Golf Club:

TRUMP INTERNATIONAL GOLF CLUB, DUBAI

One of the newest entrants to the Dubai golf landscape, this is a true beauty – as classical links as it can be, except that the purists would never allow a golf course in Dubai to be called a links course.

Jumeirah Golf Estates – Fire Course:

Also, a Greg Norman design just like its more illustrious sibling – the Earth Course, the Fire Course is by no means a walk in the park. The undulating layout puts several doubts in your mind about club selection and going straight for the flag has its own perils.

Emirates Golf Club – Faldo Course:

Sir Nick Faldo designed this course for the Emirates Golf Club, which was already boasting the Majlis course. Opened in 1996, the emphasis here is clearly on course management, especially navigating around the bunkers and the lakes which are almost always in play.

The Address Montgomerie:

Designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with Desmond Muirhead, the Address is set up to be a perfect complement to a posh community “Emirates Hills” that it forms part of. Another example of premium golfing in Dubai.

Arabian Ranches Golf Club:

This is yet another links style golf course in Dubai that is a classic example of fertile imagination that has put a barren wasteland landscape to productive use. Ian Baker-Finch has put together a challenging experience that you may well call “Arabian”.

The Els Club:

Part of the enormous Dubai Sports City, the golf course designed by the Big Easy, Ernie Els is another example of no effort being spared to bring top-end facilities to Dubai. The relatively flat topography along with the bunkering has been inspired by “surprise-surprise” – the links golf courses of UK.

Dubai Hills Golf Club:

A new entrant to the golf scene in Dubai, the 18 hole championship golf course provides challenges to golfers of all abilities with strategic play being the theme. Splendid views of the Dubai skyline, in particular of the Burj-Khalifa make for iconic golfing in Dubai.
