The Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) was conducted for the first time in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 31 March-3 April 2019. The AGTC is an annual convention for IAGTO members, where golf suppliers promote their respective destinations, properties and services to buyers from 36 countries. It’s an excellent opportunity for golf tour operators to network with suppliers in the Asia Pacific, Indian Ocean and Gulf States and Golftripz was an active participant at this convention.
“At the AGTC this time, there were close to 420 delegates. The whole event was superbly organized and Golftripz was happy to meet with most of our existing suppliers and interact with new ones. I found it immensely useful to be part of this year’s AGTC. There were ample opportunities to meet people from across the world both formally and informally. Our aim at the Siem Reap event was to work out better products, packages & prices for our clientele who travel to Southeast Asia.” said Jogeswari Peddi, Director, Golftripz, who attended the event.
The venue of the event, Siem Reap, was termed the “Boutique Golf Destination”. The package included stay, golf and sightseeing. Accommodation for the delegates was at the Sokha Siem Reap Resort & Convention Center, which was just a short tuk tuk ride away from the town centre. Golf was organized at the 3 golf courses in Siem Reap - the Angkor Golf Resort, Phokeethra Country Club & the Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club, which were between 10-30 minutes from the hotel. Sightseeing to the Angkor Temple complex was also part of the itinerary. The complex comprising the Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom & Bayon temples are UNESCO heritage structures and it is one of the largest archaeological sites in operation in the world.
As part of the AGTC itinerary, there were two full days of meetings with suppliers from multiple Asian destinations, a Welcome Dinner, Social Evenings & Business Lunches.
Golftripz will be releasing a calendar for 2019-20 soon with new and exciting product offerings for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and other Southeast asian destinations.
