Comprising the Old & the New Courses, Walton Heath Golf Club, England is a heathland course located at an elevation of about 700 feet roughly 20 miles south of London in Surrey. The Old Course goes back to 1904 having been designed by Herbert Fowler and today from the championship tees it is a par 72 course playing to 7462 yards. The New Course opened as a 9 hole course in 1907 but went up to 18 by 1913. The Old Course has consistently been ranked as amongst the top 100 courses in the world, whereas the New course is amongst the top 100 in the UK. A long history of repute comes from it having hosted the Ryder Cup, the European Open and the qualifying to the US Open. Undoubtedly, the Walton Heath golf course layouts are tougher to play on, particularly with the heather which needs to be carried – strong hitting is the norm.
