The Valderrama Golf Club in Costa Del So is a dream come true for late billionaire Jaime Ortiz Patino of converting an ordinary golf course to one of the best in the world. Regarded as the best in continental Europe, Valderrama is the only golf course outside UK and USA to host the Ryder Cup (in 1997, which was won by Europe). The exclusive members golf course is always in immaculate condition, thanks partly to limited visitor tee times at Valderrama accompanied with high green fees. The golf course design poses strategic challenges to all levels of golfers and yet is eminently playable if tee selection is sensible.
