The Royal Lytham & St Annes golf course in England is considered the toughest golf course in the British Open rota after Carnoustie. In 2012, Adam Scott well on course to win, collapsed dramatically allowing an almost prophetic Ernie Els to claim the Open. An 11 time host to the Open Championship it has featured winners like Seve Ballesteros, Bobby Jones, Gary Player and Peter Thomson. The 1st Hole at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club is a classic long 206 yard par 3 on which Ian Woosnam hit a fantastic tee shot in the 2001 open – which he then birdied, but later was found to be carrying 15 golf clubs in the bag.
