Dating back to 1964, the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, a Robert Trent Jones design is one of the oldest and yet one of the best to play in the Costa Del Sol. In spite of its relatively shorter yardage, there are several challenges with the strategically placed bunkers and water bodies at the Real Club de Golf course, some of which around the greens can pose big dangers to approach shots to elevated greens. Sotogrande was conferred the Royal Status about ten years ago and it is not difficult to see why with the class and quality that oozes everywhere from the tee boxes to the changing rooms.
