Muthaiga Golf Club, Nairobi, lies at the edge of the Karura forest and sports many indigenous trees. A variety of trees and flowering bushes not only come into play on almost every hole, but also make this course one of the prettiest to play. The layout of the Muthaiga golf course is beautiful and one that has many challenges in store for both the regular and the visiting golfer. It has been the home of the Kenya Open Golf Championship until 2004 – part of the European PGA. Past winners include Ballesteros, Woosnam, Canizaes en Maarten Lafeber. Beware of the bunkers in front of the fastest greens in East Africa. The course is very well maintained and a pleasure to play. Muthaiga Golf Club has undergone a complete reconstruction of its course by course architect Peter Matkovich, who also designed the Arabella Golf Club in South Africa. Muthaiga golf is now again the leading course in Kenya and East Africa for professional golf tournaments and avid golfers alike.
