Langkawi in Malaysia, is a group of islands in the Andaman Sea, not too far away from Thailand, very popular for its white sandy beaches and the tropical rainforest that dominates the landscape. The fact that it is a duty free zone has helped broaden its appeal as a destination to drive the tourism dollar. Various resorts and facilities have been developed to augment the appeal, not all of it viewed favourably by the locals.

Regardless, Langkawi is a quiet and peaceful getaway and is a superb location to enjoy the Andaman Sea and the rainforest in one of the many exotic resorts that have come up.

Just as in any other part of Malaysia, there is due attention to golfing and there are 3 primary options for golf in Langkawi, all of which celebrate the beauty of the land there – the hilly parkland 18 hole Gunung Raya, the soon to be ready – refurbished and redesigned Datai Bay and the currently nine and soon to be eighteen holes 99 degrees East. So if it is the peace and quiet that you want on a golfing holiday, Langkawi will soon be the go to place.
