Sri Lanka is a small island but has different weather patterns across each region. Therefore, there is always a place in Sri Lanka which is good to visit at any time of the year.
Colombo is a tropical monsoon climate and the temperatures do not vary too much throughout the year. December to March are the best months to visit Colombo as it is fairly dry though the temperature can be a couple of degrees more with the average max temperature around 34 degrees and the min temperature around 26 degrees. There are two monsoon seasons from May to August & from October to January. Rainfall is highest during May & June. Humidity is generally high in Colombo.
Kandy is cooler & wetter than Colombo and the elevation is higher for the city. The dry months are from December to April when the average temperature is around 22 degrees and the nights are cooler around 14 degrees. Kandy also experiences two monsoon season from May to August & from October to December.
Nuwara Eliya is located in the hilly mountainous region of central Sri Lanka and the temperatures through out the year are very pleasant with an average max temperature of 18 degrees with night temperatures at 12 degrees. The dry months are from March to June and the wet months are from October to December.
