The journey towards Mount Fuji can itself become part of the golf itinerary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Narita Golf Club or Narita Hills: use the flight day<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A Narita-area round can work very well on arrival or departure day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Narita Hills Country Club<\/strong> is around 30 minutes from Narita Airport and offers a Pete Dye design rather than merely convenient airport golf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Narita Golf Club<\/strong> gives us another strong Narita-side option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point is not to declare one universally better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judgement is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If the flight timing works, use a good Narita-area course to create an extra golf day without unnecessary backtracking.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PGM Maria Golf Links: when the Tokyo round should be about the Golf<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PGM Maria Golf Links<\/strong> in Kisarazu is a Pete Dye design with pronounced undulation, water and strategic bunkering. It becomes interesting when the group wants one particularly strong golf-first round during the Tokyo portion of the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Taiheiyo Club Sagami: golf on the way to Fuji<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is one of the most useful routing ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tokyo \u2192 transfer to Gotemba\/Hakone<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>we can sometimes do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tokyo \u2192 golf at Taiheiyo Club Sagami \u2192 Gotemba\/Hakone<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The round turns a transfer day into a golf day and moves the group in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is the sort of course selection that improves the entire itinerary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Once around Gotemba and Hakone<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where the Fuji golf becomes the focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Taiheiyo Club Gotemba West<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A very natural Fuji-region choice: strong golf, a Mount Fuji setting and a course that fits comfortably into a Gotemba stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Daihakone Country Club<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Particularly useful when staying around Hakone or Gotemba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The golf and the destination work together rather than requiring another long return journey to Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Susono Country Club<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Susono is another strong Fuji-area possibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is only around 15 minutes from the Susono or Komakado interchanges, so it fits the Gotemba side of the journey well. Access needs to be considered when planning the trip, but when it works, it gives the region another serious round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Taiheiyo Club Gotemba<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This can become an anchor course when access is available. It should be treated as something that elevates the itinerary rather than something every programme must promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kawana Fuji Course<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kawana is a different decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Include it when the golfer is prepared to travel farther down the Izu Peninsula <strong>because playing Kawana itself is one of the reasons for the trip<\/strong>. Some golfers will happily travel for that course. Others will prefer another day around Fuji, Hakone or Kyoto. The best course combination depends heavily on whether the trip is centred on Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe or Arima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Seta North: the Kyoto round<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seta Golf Course North<\/strong> is the obvious Kyoto-side anchor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was designed by Seiichi Inoue, has hosted the TOTO Japan Classic, and is played with a course attendant\/caddie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More importantly, it works naturally from Kyoto.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That makes it a better itinerary choice than adding a more famous course that creates an unnecessarily difficult day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Golden Valley: when the golf earns the journey<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Golden Valley Golf Club<\/strong> belongs in the programme for a different reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a more golf-first choice &#8211;
