Golfing in Bangkok
The city of angels continues to cast its spell on any tourist, be it a first time visitor or a returning one. The streets of Bangkok are always alive and enticing – with the multiple avenues of street shopping, kerbside food, bars and nightlife. As it turns out almost half the population makes its living selling food or stuff on the streets.
There is plenty to see and be bowled over by, especially on the banks of the Chao Phraya River – including The Grand Palace and The Temple of the Emerald Buddha. If your visit is timed right, you may have the opportunity of seeing the Royal Barges in full procession – a truly mesmerising experience.
Bangkok and its surrounds are blessed with an outstanding golf infrastructure. There are close to a whopping 70 golf courses in and around Bangkok and usually they are all relatively busy and on weekends it is not easy to get a tee time without advance booking. The quality and condition of the golf course usually is a good determinant of the green fees charged, so it is not a bad idea to plan based on a budget, or simply play the best there is!
The best time to visit Bangkok is between November and March when the temperatures are lower, less humidity and rainfall is also less though the temperatures throughout the year do not change much and averages around 32 degrees C. March to May is hot and June to October is the wet season but that still doesn’t stop visitors who like to take advantage of the low season rates and thin crowds. Rains during the monsoon months are usually night rains or 30 minute downpours and are not necessarily very disruptive.
